One element that it gets absolutely right however is the main villain, the man who replaced the original Captain of the Skyship One airship, Captain Foster. Voiced by John Carson, in his one and only Gerry Anderson role, the imposter Captain Foster we never learn his real name and nobody in his gang seems to know it either is a debonair smooth-talker to his International Rescue passengers until the ruse is dropped — and then his ruthless true colours are revealed.

Alerted by the guard, Scott gives chase in Thunderbird 1 and shoots his jet, causing the villain to eject but in the process his camera is destroyed In Tracy Island Exposed , he attempted to expose International Rescue's location by bombing Thunderbird 2 's hangar, forcing Virgil to move the craft onto the runway where he subsequently took photographs of the craft - and then went public with them!
Jeff devises an elaborate cover-up scheme: Tracy Island also goes public Elsewhere, Lady Penelope and Parker are staging a rescue situation, the intention being for the Thunderbirds to arrive at the scene and thus confirm that they hadn't come from Tracy Island in fact, they'd been sent into space with Thunderbird 5. As holiday crowds flocked to the island, the Hood managed to infiltrate the Tracys' inner stronghold, nearly hypnotizing Gordon and Brains - when he's interrupted by, of all people, his half-brother Kyrano!
Gordon gets the moment's grace he needs - and with one solid blow, he puts the villain out cold on the deck. Jeff and Brains utilize Jeff's personal jet, the JT1 Condor , to subsequently remove him to the mainland - after having erased the last week or so of his memory, to preserve the Tracy family's secrets The Hood in The Vanishing Ray comic strip.
In The Vanishing Ray , the Hood discovers from an unknown source that the wealthy British heiress Lady Penelope is in possession of powerful invisible ray.
He decides to steal it, as he sees it as the perfect cover without the use of his disguises to learn the secrets of the world. He tries various attempts to get the ray - even trying to kill the heiress for it - but all fail, and he is sent by the authorities back to Malaysia In Brains is Dead , the Hood faked Brains' death with a high-powered electric chair which only put him in unconsciousness.
His men took him back to his temple hideout, and with his abilities he made Brains reveal the secrets of Tracy Island and planned a full-scale attack on the erstwhile-secret IR base. However, the plan failed; and once again the Hood's memory was erased, with no memory of what he had found out about the organization However, tigers break free on the ship, killing a keeper, resulting in a frenzy - knocking out controls and causing the boat to sink. As Beresford has been invited to stay on the island, Scott takes him to look for the sand vole so the Thunderbirds can launch into action without detection.
Beresford, though, attacks Scott before revealing himself as the Hood, who then proceeds to Thunderbird 2 's hangar and knocks Virgil out before photographing International Rescue 's secrets. However, he's then distracted by a call from Brains and Gordon to need the aircraft; so to buy time he sets it off to launch automatically.
However, Alan notices a flaw; and, checking the video link, Jeff sees the ship unmanned! Running to the launch pad to stop Thunderbird 2 from going out of control, he's confronted by the Hood who shoots at him, but Alan arrives to save his father. Alan and Jeff then try to shut down the controls, but the craft flies off the ramp and back into the ground, bursting into flames; yet they get the burning wreckage under control.
In the distraction, the Hood steals a Helijet and escapes with his photos presumably intact. In the end, the Zoo Ship is saved In his final TV21 appearance, the Hood at long last seemingly wins.
Not even at the end of the story do the Tracys ponder what the consequences of his victory may mean for them The Hood also made an appearance in a Stingray comic story called A Trip to England where Titan hires the criminal to pose as a TV reporter to cause trouble on the submarine during a trip to England to commemorate the one-thousand anniversary of The Battle of Hastings.
In the vault, the Hood seals Jeff and Lady Penelope in a cell, and challenges Alan to a duel, during which Alan is thrown against a wall, strangled and lifted off his feet. However, he is arrested, and at the film's climax, he is carried out of the vault by a policeman, and mutters "See you soon, Jeff" as Thunderbirds 1, 2 and 3 leave, hinting at possible future encounters.
What his fate is after this is never revealed. In a departure from the original TV series, the Hood can no longer hypnotise people, and doesn't appear to be mentally linked to Kyrano. In place of this, he is telekinetic this ability appears to be hereditary, as his niece, Tin-Tin, can also use this power; her eyes turn green reptilian, or more probably like a wildcat. However, quite how they both have the same power is never explained.
When he uses his telekinetic power, his eyes turn red and reptilian-looking, and the power is quite effective such as guiding Brains to the "Command and Control" Switch, picking up Thunderbird 2's guidance chip when it is thrown away from him, and strangling Alan in a Star Wars -esque moment.
However, if he overuses these powers, he is drained temporarily. It was revealed during the film that these powers apparently activated after the Hood was left for dead during one of International Rescue's first missions; the Hood accuses Jeff of leaving him to die in the cave-in at the diamond mine, but Jeff later tells Alan that, at the time, he left the Hood because he could see no way to save him that wouldn't kill them both.
Despite what the Hood had done to him and his family, however, when faced with the chance to let the Hood fall into the Mole's drilling mechanisms, Alan instead saved him when the Hood was weakened by over-use of his powers, subsequently allowing him to be captured. In the series, The Hood now voiced by Andres Williams, following the death of Ray Barrett in is once again the uncle of Tin-Tin now named Kayo , and had something to do with the disappearance and apparent death of Jeff Tracy.
Contrary to his previous selves, this Hood no longer has any powers of any sort which has aroused disappointment in fans of the original series ; however, he still maintains his mastery of disguise, albeit through menacing holographic projections over his head, rather than using masks.
Instead of his incredibly jeweled gold tunic, he always wears a black suit. His base of operations is now a flying-fortress with three thugs , as opposed to the temple in Malaysia. Before the series began, Lady Penelope had helped Jeff unmask seven of the Hood's alter egos, before he apparently killed Jeff in a boat accident. Amongst Jeff's sons and adopted daughter Kayo , his existence was more of a theory than actual fact. At the end of the first season, the Hood, in a similar vein to the film, locates Tracy Island and takes control of International Rescue's property; however, here, he does not take Thunderbird 2 exclusively, as he did in the film, but he instead takes all five of them.
However, the Tracy brothers reclaim control of their fleet, and Scott, Virgil and John destroy the Hood's ship before he can escape. He is captured and imprisoned. When Jeff returns, alive, at the show's very last episode, the Hood reveals that he and Jeff were once friends, but the relationship soured when Jeff refused to allow him to carry out his plans for the world.
